When most lawyers, law firms or in-house counsel think of legal outsourcing, they think of document review. Since 2006, outsourcing litigation document review projects to India has been a big business.
Document Review Outsourcing
United Lex, which is based in Kansas, boasts revenue of $40 million and 750 employees. Ironically, it has become one of America's fastest growing companies by outsourcing to India legal work that previously was the responsibility of American lawyers and paralegals. Like most Indian LPOs, its primary workload consists of document review.
Pangea3 is another one of the leading LPOs specializing in document review. Its main office is in New York, but they do the legal work in India. "We have 600 people for whom electronic discovery is their expertise and their business. They talk about it with enthusiasm and interest you won't get from a domestic associate." Sanjay Kamlani, the co-CEO of New York-based Pangea3
While document review has been the "bread and butter" for many LPOs, many more legal services may and should be outsourced. Following is a discussion of the various types of legal services that are offered by existing LPOs in Israel.
